i am planning to be away in spain for the winter so i rang the dwp and they said that's fine for up to 26 weeks but as i had sent in my ESA50 form to ATOS at the beginning of august i should inform them. Does anyone have advice on what i should be telling them if indeed i need to tell them and will i get any flexibilty on dates if called for an interview. Thanks

Failing to attend the assessment can result in your claim being closed and whilst not being in the country is Good Cause for not attending, you would still have to go through an appeal process to get the Decision overturned.

There are 29 pages of information on benefits abroad which I found using 'Please Search before posting'.
However, as you appear to be a new member we'll let you off this time

For the benefit of other members who may be seeking information I've made a link about Benefits Abroad
However, please bear in mind that the rules on claiming benefits abroad are quite complex especially in non EEC or EEA countries and really beyond the remit of moderating staff MORE

I am hoping to go abroad with my husband next year after 4 years of saving and am wondering will this have an impact on his esa as he has mobility and back issues.
we will be accomadated where possible ie wheelchair service at airport etc, but how will atos regard this should he be called for a medical.
The flight will be for apprx 4 hours, he would not be doing any lifting or carrying.
Any advise will be much appreciated as we are looking to book by christmas to take advantage of discounts offered. However, i am really concerned as i have heard nightmare stories about esa claimants going on holiday abroad!!!!!
Thanks.
Radhika.

Benefits in other EEC and EEA countries vary and the rules are complex and really amount to individual queries which as moderators we are not qualified to answer.
