Re Heard Nothing from DWP

Hi

I sent back my first ESA form, I am currently on IB and had it confirmed that it had arrived on August 8th as I sent it via recorded delivery. I saw my GP and warned her that the process was imminent and when I saw her again in September she confirmed that Atos had written to her and she had filled in the appropriate forms and sent them off.

Since that time I have heard nothing and the suspense is killing me. I don't know what to make of this silence, whether it's good or bad and I don't know whether after 2 months plus I should be pursuing someone for an answer, one way or another. Or should I shut up and let it rumble on?

Every time the phone rings or we get the post my heart is in my mouth. I know delays are really common, especially in certain parts of the country but I really though I should have heard something from Atos by now? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi mcw, unfortunately the process can take a long time in some areas. You can phone up and see what is happening if you wish, or you can keep your head down on the basis that no news is good news!

If it is of any hope to you I received an ESA form to be reassessed in July, I returned the form on 18th July, after ringing Atos in early Sept they said they had sent an ESA113 form to my GP for more medical information. My gp returned this to Atos in mid Sept and I received a letter on tuesday of this week to say I had been moved from WRAG to the Support group.

Like you I'm on IB and having filled in the new form attended an Atos medical the third week in May. I did phone DWP twice and was told 'not to worry, there's big backlogs'. On Tuesday this week received the letter telling me I'm being placed in the WRAG group. So, 5 months nearly I've waited. I've posted my letter requesting an appeal etc and like you I'm on tenterhooks waiting.

It's hard but please try to put it out of your mind and remember there are a great many good people thinking of you during this most difficult of times. I do hope you have a positive result soon.

Hi demijon, just to warn you it took six months before I got a reconsideration when I put in a appeal. Luckily I was put in the support group then. But if they had upheld the original decision and it been sent to tribunal then there probably have been many more months wait. Good luck.
