Unsure what to claim while waiting for ESA appeal

Hello, I'm a very new user here and I really hope I am doing things right. I have read and understand that I cannot be given specific answers but wondered if anyone had any advice on what I may be allowed to claim while the ESA appeal is under way. I have been on IB for over 12 years and recently had the change over form and medical assessment for ESA, I got the decision back with 0 points so I have set the ball rolling for the appeal. I'm a little unsure what I may be able to claim while this is happening, my wife is disabled and gets DLA high rate care and low rate mobility, she has never been entitled to IB due to NI contributions so has never had to send sick notes, we receive Income Support, I have an underlying entitlement to carers allowance and I believe we get a disablement allowance with the Income Support. We are really confused as we are unsure which, if any, of these benefits we will still be entitled to claim, all the claims apart from DLA are in my name. I know I will need to either write or phone the DWP but I just don't know what our rights are in this situation so won't know if what I am being told is correct.

Again, I'm very sorry if I've done anything wrong with these questions and would appreciate any advice, even if it's just a pointer as to where to look for more information.

Thank you very much.
Nomad.

Your wife can claim the ESA assessment rate as long as she submits 'fitnotes' from her GP

What will I be paid while I appeal?

You might feel happier if you can get some face-to-face advice

Thank you, at the moment the DWP haven't asked for any info about my wife, it is my claim for ESA that is going to appeal so would that mean I should claim the ESA assessment rate and continue claiming income support for my wife?

Many thanks again

Sorry nomad, I got confused about who was claiming what

As long as you and your wife have seperate claims, then her IS should carry on as before.
