This is a question that only you can answerHaving been on income support,I have been placed in WRAG. I have had long term debilitating mental health problems and also suffer from ME. I know I will not be able to work before retiremant age (I am 59). I also recieve DLA open ended. Should I appeal to get into the ESA support group; should I just carry on on WRAG; Will this affect my PIP application next year if I am still on WRAG? Advice needed please.

You will have been tranferred to Income Related ESA so there is no limitation on how long you can receive ESA, so the question is a simple one, do you qalify for the Support Group?

I do qualify for the support group on my performance or rather lack of functionality most days of the week, but what about the days when I can get out or do the washing up?

ESA comes in two flavours depending on your personal circumstances, to be award Contribution Based ESA (the other one), you need to have accrued sufficient NI Contributions to qualify.Income related ESA, what does this mean?

Your abilities should be considered as they are for the majority of the time, if you have a look at our ESA Claim guides this is exaplained in more detail.
To be clear, to be placed in the Support Group, you need to show you meet one or more of the SG descriptors.
If you are considering an appeal, then you need to be aware of the following.
Is there any risk to challenging a decision?
How long do I have to appeal?
How to submit an appeal
and
Do I have to attend WFIs while I appeal?
