The six months should be from the date of the Decision not the medical, however, they should expect the re-assessment process to start again several months before this.Hi all. A friend has received a letter saying after reconsidering the decision they have been placed in the support group for 6 months, they had a medical in April. Does this mean they can expect a new ESA50 form very soon?

Hi K,
It would seem so, the six months will be from the time of the decision, not the medical.
Generally the ESA50 is received a couple of months before the reassessment is due, to allow for the processing of the reassessment.

ESA awards are indefinite, so it is not six months in the Support Group and then nothing, it is six months in the Support Group and then a new assessment, which may leave the claimant in the SG, move them to the WRAG, or find them Fit for Work.Thats a really good question is it worth appealing in the WRAG group! if you only get 6 months in the support group! I would like to know aswell.
