ESA85A

Could someone tell me how I should request a copy of my esa85a as this is the only year I've been in the S/G and I don't know how long it is for. I have looked through the faq's but couldn't find anything, unless I've overlooked it.

Hi n,

You can request the ESA85A Medical Report over the phone by contacting the DWP office that is dealing with your ESA.
You may wish to request the ESA85A, and any other documention that was used in coming to the SG decision.

It is always best to back up any such verbal request in writing, as some members have had problems obtaining such documentation.

Thanks for that b but I have a problem phoning people so will the links tell me what to write in a letter? And will it not go against me the next time I have to go through all the forms again with me requesting the esa85a?

Hi n,

Someone else could ring up on your behalf if you were present at the time, they would be asked to provide answers to a few security questions such as your NI number, DOB, etc.

Failing that, you simply need to write a letter stating that you are formally requesting copies of your ESA85A Medical Report, and any other documentation used by The ESA Decision Maker in coming to the decision to award you ESA in The Support Group,on what ever date the decision was made.

Or you can do this using a SAR form which you can print off from this link : SAR Form , on this DWP Website page :

As you are not in any hurry to obtain the above, as you are not appealing, writing should suffice.

Further, you are perfectly entitled to request the above, it should not have any detrimental effect. Many, many of our members have done so.

As a footnote, if you are to write, or use the SAR Form, it may help if you write "Data Protection Subject Access Request" in the top left hand corner of the envelope.

Thankyou very much B, I didnt know you could request a copy until I read it on here.. And like you said, I'm not in any rush as I'm not appealing but I just wanted to find out how they came to the decision of putting me in the sg but not the 2 previous years..Unless its because I used more of the info from this brilliant site.
