DLA renewal. TO fill in the mobility part or not.. was created by Callisto
Hello
I am overdue in sending my DLA renewal form back, I have just two weeks left before the cut off date, ill health and family issues have taken precedence.
I currently am awarded low rate care apparently satisfying the cooking test. This was reduced to this from an award of high rate mobility and low rate care 2 years ago. I had to appeal and the tribunal awarded the tow rates, however I felt that due to some medication there had been a minor improvement, enough for me to longer qualify for high rate mobility.
The situation remains unchanged and my question is, knowing that I would be unlikely to qualify for the mobility as I can walk over 50 metres before severe pain and exhaustion sets in, should I not complete the mobility section? Obviuosly should I do this I would point out to them in a short note on the mobility section of the form that as the situation remains unchanged and that I can walk over 50 metres and manage 100 metres, I feel it a waste of time to complete this and perhaps remind them of thier last decision following my change of circmstance letter. Just not sure what to do. I am not able to stand for more than a couple of minutes and sitting up actually completing tasks does present the same problems so I personally feel that I do still fit the eligibility for the cooking test, along with other elements of care spaced throught the day. I know that you advise to fill in the Care part in your guides if you have filled in the mobilitly but what are your thoughts as to the other way around.
Many thanks

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Ultimately the decision is yours, if it was me I would still complete the mobility section as well, but if you genuinely believe that you should not qualify, then you can leave it blank.

Thankyou Gordon for your speedy answer.
I will have to give it a little more thought tonight but I think that I may fill the mobility part in. I guess it gives a fuller picture. I will probably refer them to thier last decision somewhere in the form. I know that they do have shredding exercises but I cannot imagine that my letter to them will have not been scanned.
Thankyou.
