SDA to ESA WRAG without ESA50? was created by MariW
There have been a number of reports from Forum members about claimants being moved from SDA, IB or IS into ESA WRAG without an ATOS medical. Does this transfer ever occur without a claimant being sent an ESA50 to complete?

It is possible for an ESA Decision to be made without the issuing of an ESA50, but this is extremely rare and is most usually related to the Exemption Conditions.
Can I ask what has prompted your question?

Thanks for your answer, Gordon. If one thing prompted my question, it is fear. A place in ESA WRAG would be as senseless as putting me onto JSA. However, a placement in WRAG rather than the Support Group has been the experience of other people on this Forum who are seriously ill and/or disabled. I receive DLA and am on the higher rate for both mobility and care but that counts for nothing now. The system appears to be without logic.

You can reduce the risk by providing as much information in your ESA50 as possible, but I am afraid there is no way to remove it.
A good place to start is to confirm, in your own mind at least, that you should meet the criteria for the Support Group, see

My ESA50 is underway in advance of The Brown Envelope. The “About Me” section, the responses to each question, and the extra information pages will be extremely detailed with pertinent examples. I know that I meet more than one descriptor and ought to be in the Support Group but a good many people have said the same! There also is a strong possibility of an exceptional circumstance. Thanks again.
