No to courier for ESA50 because of GP letters was created by bitplayer
Hi All,
Someone else tried to courier my ESA50 for me to the Wembley ATOS address today, but it was refused as the postcode does not match the address.
Apparently it's a sorting office where postal workers go through these supposedly confidential forms and sort those with GP letters from the others. As my deadline is tomorrow, they are sending it special delivery and hoping for the best (it's been hell filling them out).
I read all the guides, (thanks Steve and Holly) but didn't know you could get a GP's letter, should I ask for one from my GP and send it later? What will it say? Is this the special rules letter that avoids the medical?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Some people are able to get a letter of support from their GP, some are not. Some sugeries will not do these as a matter of principle. Any evidence you can submit in support of your claim will be helpful, even more so if it specificaly references the appropriate descriptors.
A face-to-face assessment is deemed unneccessary if DWP/ATOS think they have enough information to make a decision without one. This is not necesarily related to the 'exceptional circumstances' descriptor.

Thanks for your reply Mrs. Hurtyback,
My Gp surgery has not been very helpful, they lost all my records and simply printed out when I 've attended the surgery and would not give me an appointment to see my GP but only a locum who I don't know. Likewise the hospital have not been able to find records in time to send to ATOS.
If I manage to get an appointment with my GP can I ask for a letter and how do I ask it to include descriptors?

You are perfectly entitled to ask your GP for a letter - and they are perfectly entitled to refuse! As I said, some surgeries do this on principle. Any letter of support would be better than nothing, but it would be even better if your GP is prepared to confirm the conditions and impairments that relate to the descriptors appropriate to your application. For example - "Bitplayer suffers from A and as a result is unable to B'
