"In the longer term" is a stock phrase that is used on ESA85A or ESA85 Medical Reports by The ATOS HCP.
This is known as the prognosis, these prognoses can be 3, 6, 9, 12, 18 or 24 months or "In the longer term"
On this premise, one would assume that a recommendation of "In the longer term" should give a prognosis of 2 years or more. (but don't bank on it)
The DWP Decision Maker will have put a finite period on this "In the longer term" recommendation, so you would have to contact The DWP to find out the exact length of time before you should be reassessed.
