the work programme ! was created by joanne
hello everyone
well i have just been to the job centre and been informed i have to attend the work programme, they also let me know i have been awarded my esa again for another year and this time without a medical.
last year the job centre sent me to a talk about the work programme and said it was voluntary if i wanted to join, with my health i just wasnt well enough to comit to the programme.
but this time i have been told i HAVE to go every 2 weeks for up to 2 years. i am due to start a second course of physio in april and i have no idea how i am supposed to manage this and this work programme and the regular weekly physio i already have.
they have said if im not well i can do the meetings on the phone which i suppose something if i am struggling. i
i also am begrudging this as for 24 years i was self employed and when/if i get better i will want to return to my job. i have very little energy so using it to go to these meetings and learn how to write a c.v to hand to myself when better. i do feel like this is going to be a huge burden on my health and is a huge commitment i am being made to do.
i dont think i need to be in the support group but with my medical treatment the regular 8 weeks visit to the job centre was enough...oh and was volunteering until a set back 16 weeks ago. just no idea how i will be able to cope
dont spose anyone has any ideas about this or can reassure me that the work programme is sympathetic and not just about numbers n targets
sorry a long post...all the things i wish id said at the job centre!
many thanks for reading..and replying if you do

Recent changes to the way that ESA claimants are put forward to the Work Programme may have an impact on what you need to do. See
Changes to ESA Sanctions
Work Programme
As always, any Work Related Activity you are asked to do must take into account any limitations that result from condition(s), also you cannot be asked to work or apply for work.
Whilst interviews over the phone are a possibility, please bear in mind that this is entirely at the discretion of the advsior.
Good luck
