I have also just discovered something called severe Disability Premium. I receive DLA middle care and lower mobility and live alone do you know if this mean that I qualify for this benefit as well.

Thank you

Hi,

In effect, being entitled to Disability Premiums (DP) as a result of a MR or HR Care award of DLA increases the amount that the government states that you need to live on.

This would have been paid in the form of an Income Support top-up for IB recipients, and an IR ESA top-up in the case of CB ESA recipients.

Even though you may be legally entitled to DP's, you would only be paid them if there was a shortfall between your household income, and The Minimum Disability Income Guarantee , pertaining to your own personal circumstances.

Therefore, you would need to make a claim, and/or seek face to face advice to discuss your personal circumstances, which we obviously cannot do on an open forum.

Where to get advice?

This : Benefits Calculator , may give you some idea.
