Rough idea when to expect my next ESA50/dla? was created by mumsgirl
I know you can't give an exact answer but could someone please be kind enough to give me a rough estimation as to when they think I might receive forms for ESA &DLA reassessments? I was awarded both of them at the beginning of September 2011 for 2 years. Would it be the new ESA form? And will it be DLA (as opposed to PIP)? thanks

Your DLA is a fixed-length award which will end in spetember 2013, or sooner if an unfavourable decision is made in the meantime. You should expect the forms to be sent out aproximately 20 weeks in advance. For this reason, you should be assessed for DLA again this time.
Unlike DLA, ESA is an open-ended award that can be reassessed at any time (after 3 months from a decision). Payment will continue until and unless an unfavourable decision is made. You should expect the paperwork some weeks before September 2013.
Some areas are already sending out the new forms, some are using up their stock of old ones. The decision will be based on the new guidelines no matter which form you are sent.

Thanks for replying MHB. Can you also tell me, if I receive the form 20 weeks beforehand what is your opinion as to when I should return it? Also, say, for example, I got it 20 weeks beforehand and sent it back 19 weeks beforehand (no chance!) and they made a 'fail' decison 18 weeks beforehand, does that mean I lose my money from the date they made the decison (18 weeks before the 'time up') or will I continue to get the money until the beginning of September? thanks once again.

Hi MG,

With respect to ESA, you must of course send your ESA50 back by the deadline, and will continue to receive your current rate of ESA until a decision is made on your reassessment.
Hopefully, unchanged !!!!
