This survey was published late on Monday afternoon, on 7 April and closed again on the afternoon of Friday 11 April.  Almost 550 responses were received.

We chose to end the survey after such a short period because a vote in parliament is expected in May, leaving us very little time to publish any analysis of the results.

Many thanks to everyone who took part.  You can conduct your own research by reviewing the results, organisations are free to use the research results in their own campaigning.

Benefits and Work has created a brief, anonymous questionnaire about the PIP cuts in which your answers will immediately be published online. The one page survey is for anyone who currently gets PIP daily living without scoring any 4 point or higher descriptors.

The purpose is to provide some of the evidence about who the cuts will affect and how, which the government is desperately trying to keep hidden from the public.

The changes to PIP are to be rushed through parliament, with the government aiming to have the law in place by the time of the summer recess in July. There is no possible legislative reason for this – the law won’t take effect for another 15 months after it has passed.

Instead, there is ample time for the kind of research and consultation that would normally take place before a change that will negatively impact hundreds of thousands of people’s lives is introduced.

But Labour realise that the more people understand about the changes to PIP the more resistance there will be.

Already, one survey has shown that over 70% of people who are told that the cuts will take support from people who can’t wash or dress below the waist are against them.

But so far there have been very few real life examples of who will be hit.

In this deliberate information vacuum Rachel Reeves has been able to tour TV studios claiming that people who lose their PIP will be able to get work, so there’s no cause for concern.

So please consider completing the survey. We hope it will allow, campaigners, researchers, journalists, MPs and ordinary members of the public to get a better understanding of who Labour is targeting as it tries to rush through these savage cuts.

Please be aware though, that we cannot control the use that people make of your submission, some elements of the media may try to misuse and misrepresent what people say.

In the survey you are asked not to give your real name or any name you routinely use online, in order to protect your privacy as your answers will be immediately published online.
