Most face-to-face assessments have currently been suspended due to coronavirus, though they are being reintroduced from May 2021 for some claimants. You are most likely to have a telephone assessment instead, though some assessments will be on paper only and video assessments are being introduced.

It’s impossible to say. There is certainly no evidence that there will be automatic exemption from face-to-face medicals based on what award of DLA you receive.

But the DWP have said that “people with the most severe health conditions or disabilities, or those who are terminally ill” are unlikely to have to attend a face-to-face medical assessment. Much may depend on what medical evidence you are able to get from your specialist or GP and include with your claim.
