Nickname: Danno |
Age: 68 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Arthritis, Severe COPD, Type 2 Diabetes, Cervical Spondylosis |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Enhanced |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I should have scored at least 1 x 4 pointer last time, as after a two hour face to face, the assessor wrote that I was very breathless at rest. I got 15 points (6 x 2 points & 1 x 3 points) with a 10 year ongoing award in October 2017. |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Most daily living task, e.g. Washing, Dressing, Cooking, etc, etc. I am breathless at rest and even more breathless on even mild exertion. I have trouble bending and streching and have poor grip. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: If I cannot get any award of PIP Daily Living on review (October 2027) I will also lose my Pension Credit, my full HB & full Council Tax Reduction, my £200 Winter Fuel Payment and my £150 Warm Home Discount Scheme. This is approximately worth £17,000/Annum loss. On top of that I would have to pay my rent and Council Tax out of my remaining income. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I am over State Pension age with multi co-morbidities. I will be 70 years old by November 2026, so "moving into work" is out of the question for me. |
Anything else to tell us: There is little information on what will happen to people who are over State Pension age with a 10 year ongoing Daily Living award whose "Light Touch review is due after November 2026. As I did not receive any 4 point scores in my face to face assessment, (Even though I should have, but didn't challenge it as I still scored 15 points) my "Light Touch" review will become a full reassessment as I will not be able to say that thre is no change in my inability to carry out the DL activities as this could mean that I again fail to score any 4 pointers, hence no DL award at all. If I lose my PIP DL award this may result in me losing my Housing Association bungalow as I will struggle to pay my rent. |
