Nickname: Insomnia66 |
Age: 41 |
Main health condition: Both physical and mental health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Chronic pain, chronic fatigue, hypermobility, muscle wastage, postural hypotension, liver cirrhosis, aortic dilation, seizures, depression, anxiety, agrophobia, long covid, esophageal varices, Puritis, neuropathy, esophageal dysmotility, gastritis, nausea. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I should already be getting it, but based on dwp assessments and recent assessment I don't, and can't see this changing, as they use any tactics possible to not give you the points you should receive based on your daily living struggles, and don't actually take medical evidence from consultants into account, they prefer evidence from their own assessors, who have no knowledge of majority of the conditions, make inaccurate assumptions, and it's usually telephone, and it's an exercise to constantly try and trip you up, put words in your mouth, and is target driven, and Is a horrific experience and causes immense stress |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I struggle with all tasks of daily living, I require support with cooking, medication and treatment, washing and bathing, getting dressed, keeping myself safe, attending my numerous hospital and gp appointments as I suffer from seizures and very restricted mobility, and have frequent seizures and falls, and can't go anywhere unaccompanied, I require support with finances and medications as I have memory and general cognitive problems, without the support of my carer it would be a death sentence for me, I simply couldn't manage, it's hard enough with the support of my carer. |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I would lose £8700 per year, and would not be able to manage at all, and would be in extreme poverty, and have no independence at all. I would lose PIP daily living component and universal credit health element, and my carer would no longer get carers allowance, so would have to work full time, and I would no longer have a carer, so could no longer live independently or attend any hospital appointments, patient transport wouldn't be an option either, as I have severe anxiety and don't cope without support from my carer, I have agoraphobia also, and struggle meeting and been around others, especially who I'm not familiar with. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I couldn't move into work, I require someone to be with me when I go anywhere, because of seizures, very restricted mobility, pain, exhaustion, and agoraphobia, it just wouldn't be possible at all. |
Anything else to tell us: I think the changes have been rushed with no consideration of the impact, my health has already deteriorated because of the stress, worry and uncertainty of my future. I have enough to deal with to start with, my conditions are progressive, life limiting and so debilitating. People are going to commit suicide, be left in extreme poverty, with no care, it's against basic human rights, and a direct attack on the most vulnerable in society. They could have made changes of support with people who have lesser problems such as mild anxiety etc, rather than getting money, and physiotherapy for milder musculoskeletal conditions, drugs, alcohol etc, and brought in a low tier of pip for those type of conditions. People understand the system needs changed, but the proposed changes are extremely dangerous and will lead to deaths of the most vulnerable people in society. |
