Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I’ve fallen downstairs, fall frequently when walking. I’ve dropped mugs of tea/coffee and boiled pans of vegetables, I’ve sliced through the pads of my fingers when trying to prepare food. I struggle with zips and buttons on clothing so wear loose clothing. Due to diverticular disease I struggle going and managing the toilet. I pee very frequently. I haven’t had a bath in over 4 years due to not being able to get into or out of the bath as I live on my own and the last time I tried I was stuck in the bath and I took over 1/2 an hour to get out. I had to get on my all fours and haul myself out leaving me bruised, in pain and frightened. And due to waking in pain through the night my sleep pattern is very poor. On an average night this is up to 5 times and on bad nights it’s over 8 times. Leading to fatigue and lack of concentration.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £73.90 a week..£295.60 every four weeks..£3482.80 a year
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I worked for over 40 years as a maintenance and installation electrician until I lost my job on the grounds of capability. Due to arthritis in my toes, ankles, knees, fingers of both hands and lower back. And during that period I was assessed by independent health care professionals who backed this up. I couldn’t walk more than 40m without pain or falling. Now I can’t walk more than 1m without pain. I’m currently awaiting the team of consultants I’m under formulating a care plan but I’ve been informed that I’m likely facing multiple operations on my left foot alone(both feet are the same) which would likely be fusing my left ankle and toes.
I’ll be 63 later this year and facing multiple operations on my left foot alone. I struggle walking, I fall frequently, if I sit more than 15 minutes my knees become stiff and painful but if I stand and move around 1m I’m in pain. I cant hold objects for any period of time as I’m in pain & drop them due to poor grip and lack of dexterity due to arthritis.
I can’t take pain meds such as opiates as they impact on my bowels.
And due to poor sleep and fatigue concentrating is poor. I have had episodes where I’ve forgotten to check for traffic when backing out of a driveway. I’ve come to a road junction and even with 40 years of driving experience I was confused at a T junction. So I have virtually abandoned driving losing my ability to go out and socialise leading to isolation.
