No 4 point PIP descriptors results

Submission ID: 1161783

Nickname: worriedsick
Age: 59
Main health condition: Physical health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Multiple Sclerosis
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Unlikely, I think the leeway will be tightened to ensure fewer people qualify even if they did before.
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Preparing food.
Showering/washing.
Basic daily living can be very difficult when feeling unwell and totally exhausted all the time.
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: 73.90 a week (on PIP daily living)
plus additional 48.50 if changes to ESA support group go ahead (I feel this has been slid in under the radar as not much has been said about it in the media)
total loss: 122.40 a week

This would severely impact on ability to pay bills (need to have the heating on more than normal being at home all the time); to buy petrol enabling me to go out; to attend therapy appointments which help me manage my condition as I would no longer be able to afford them.
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: That a potential employer would not understand about the fluctuating nature of my condition. That I would feel under pressure to take the first available job even if it were unsuitable. I'm not sure I have much faith in the 'try it before you commit' without having to go through a new assessment for benefit if it didn't work out. There has not been any detail as to how this would work.
Anything else to tell us: I feel these proposed cuts are not looking at the bigger picture and the wider impact of the numbers of people who will be affected. Unpaid carers would lose their entitlement to Carers Allowance if their carees lose PIP; this will push more demand onto social services for support, more people may have to go into care as a result. Services are already at full stretch and unable to cope with demand now, it will be much worse if these cruel and discriminatory cuts are allowed to go through.

Lets not pretend this is about helping people back into work; it is about saving money, and targetting the sick and disabled is seen as an easy 'win' for making savings.
