Submission ID: 1163350
Date: 2025-04-09 12:53:48
Nickname: Rachel
Age: 45
Main health condition: Physical health
Main conditions that affect daily living: Multiple Sclerosis
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard
4 point descriptor score: No
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: Not likely at all
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I struggle with every task due to cog fog, MS fatigue, mobility issues, foot drop, right side weakness, neuropathic pain in legs and feet, altered sensations from the waist down, leg spasms, and overactive bladder
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I would lose £290 pounds a month which has helped me to drop down to 4 days a week as a social worker. I’m desperate to stay in my job but if PIP is taken away as I don’t get higher than 2’s in the categories I would have to go up to full time and I would not be able to cope with that. These changes are effectively going to force me out of a job I love
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: N/A
Anything else to tell us: I score 2’s, which might seem ok to some people but all those 2’s impact on me at the same time, everyday and it’s a lot. I use a functional electronic stimulating machine and walking stick/rolator to walk depending on how my symptoms affect me and I’m not even eligible for standard mobility. These changes to PIP would be life changing and are despicable
