Nickname: Scared bunny |
Age: 49 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: Type 3 diabetic after Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Cell Transplant. Osteopenia; fibromyalgia, glaucoma, gastitis, bile acid malabsorbtion, cervical cancer. No longer have gallbladder, pancreas, cervix or ovaries. Immunosuppressed after 35 hours major surgery over 3 operations. |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I don't know, it is so tough to get |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: Making food, washing, getting dressed, bowel issues, walking/getting about |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: £900 a month - Low rate pip, Limited capability for work and UC top up. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: I used to be a work coach, for the NHS under a DWP contract. I was made redundant when diagnoses with chronic pancreatitis and the first operation failed. I would love to work, no one will hire me as I am in chronic pain, take opiods daily and sit with a heat pad all the time due to the phantom pancreas pain I get. I can't walk due to Osteopenia and fibro - the Osteopenia happened because I wasn't getting sufficient nutrition for 6 years while a stone grew in my pancreas and no-one knew as I was so healthy. |
Anything else to tell us: This is terrifying. On my last PiP review, I was told 'we know you can't afford to go to a tribunal, so we will give you high mobility if you accept low care.' I was so I'll I knew I couldn't fight and I was due a 16 hour operation with a transplant that we didn't know if I would recover from, so I accepted it. I am so scared and angry now for accepting this compromise. My Mum died in 2012, 5 day's before a tribunal for disability benefits. She had a terminal disease and they turned her down, she died in agony with no food in the house. If I lose this money, my husband and I will be made homeless- and he works f/t in a low paid care job, topped up by the UC allowance we get - which will be taken if I lose my PiP. We are terrified. |
