Nickname: Rubes |
Age: 47 |
Main health condition: Physical health |
Main conditions that affect daily living: ME/CFS Moderate to severe level |
Rate of PIP daily living component: Standard |
4 point descriptor score: No |
Possibility to score at least one 4-point daily living descriptor at the next review: I really don’t know |
Tasks you struggle with on a day-to-day basis: I am bedbound except for about 4 hours per day. So I am able to do tasks in small amounts during a window of time in the middle of the day. I struggle with making food, washing, getting dressed in the main. I also have dysphonia and lose the ability to speak above a whisper half way through the day. I really should have got 4 points for making food or communicating (talking) |
Expected income you will lose if the Green Paper cuts are imposed: I calculated over 40% of my income. I would lose LCWRA and Pip daily living, leaving just pip standard mobility and UC plus whatever the small “health” payment is. I would be able to afford my household bills but would need to give up my cat and my home help and Mounjaro shot. I take Mounjaro because I need to lose weight, of course. But also because it allows me to feel full on meal replacement shakes, which is all I’m able to feed myself really. Well that and snacks/crackers/crisps ambient packet food. I don’t have the energy for online shopping for all sorts of ingredients, or cooking. |
Expected problems if you tried moving into work, with support from a work coach: So I can function like a “normal” person for an hour or two. My worry is that would be seen as me bing able to work from home. However, I lose cognitive ability the more I exert, so I can imagine having to neglect myself (not able to wash or get food) because I’m forced to use the few hours I have to prepare for work (this is much like right now where I have a PIP appeal and a UC appeal for a debt I don’t owe, I’m neglecting myself because paperwork is taking over my time) |
Anything else to tell us: Thanks for setting this up. It’s really causing a lot of worry. There are so many “secret” rules in PIP, I heard if you don’t have a LA Care assessment you probably won’t get a 4. I feel like the public would be surprised at how disabled those of us with 2s are. People keep telling me “you should be on more points” and I-tell them to say that to the DwP, the Judge, the tribunal! People say “but the guidance says…” I know what it says! In practice, there are unspoken rules and a desire to keep you at low points. The pip process isn’t difficult, it’s disingenuous. |
