PIP Award was created by Teddington
Hi,
Just to let you all know that today I've received a letter saying I have been both award to enhanced daily living and mobility! I applied back in December so I waited almost 6 months to receive this decision to come. I cannot thank enough Benefits and Work because you all have been such a great support for me. I am so lucky to found you and cannot imagine what would I do without your great information and guidance. Thank you so much!
The letter also says that I will be having my PIP review in May 2015. Is that a bad thing because I am having my follow up review in such a short time?
I just hope it doesn't mean anything bad. I can't imagine going through this again next year it's been very stressful but yet again I am so happy that I have been awarded. Really appreciated.
At the same time I also applied ESA and been receiving contribution based ESA since December but I haven't had my medical yet. I rang Atos two weeks ago and they said I am still on waiting list. Do I need to inform Job Centre for my PIP Award ?
I wish everyone who is applying PIP good luck! I ts a very hard and stressful process but Benefits and Work moderators are absolutely brilliant!
Thank you ever so much again!!!

Many congratulations on the awards and thank you for your comments about B&W.

A short award usually indicates that the DWP think there is a chance the claimants conditions will improve, it is worth saying that this is often at odds with medical opinion, as the length of the award is part of the Decision for PIP, you can appeal it, but to be honest given the delays in the process, your appeal may not be heard before you are required to re-apply.

Although PIP is administered by a part of the DWP and you would think there is inter-departmental communication, I would not rely on it and would contact the ESA department to inform them of your PIP award, also, do this in writing.

Thank you so much for your reply Gordon :cheer:
It's turned out that I misunderstood the award dates. Actually the letter says I have been awarded to May 2016 (it ends in May 2016) but they will contact me on May 2015 to check if I am getting right level of PIP.
I am not sure what that means tho.
I am sorry for not understanding it all but I am very happy with my award.

And one more question. I am receiving contribution based ESA since December 2013 and like I said I haven't had my medical yet so I haven't been put in any groups. Will I still be eligible for DLA premiums and if so how this will happen ? Will they do it automatically once I tell them about my PIP award or do I need to do something ?

Many thanks .

You should still receive your DLA premiums automatically to the best of my knowledge.

In order to receive any of the Premiums related to your DLA you need to be eligible for and receiving Income Related ESA as part of your ESA payments, if you are only receiving Contribution Based ESA then they are not payable.

You may be eligible for an ESA(IR) top-up to your ESA(CB) this will be dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See

Asset rule for ESA(IR)

24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)

If you think that you are eligible your can request an ESA3 form from the DWP office dealing with you ESA claim.
