Phoned atos several times today regarding my request for a home visit medical , after some passing around i got to the most disinterested person in Atos i think. My assessment date has been put back from july 10th to August 1st to give me time to get my GP to fax a letter explaining why its not acceptable to expect me to travel to the assesment centre. But my GP is indian and he returns home to Idia every summer for 7 weeks , how useful that is. I told this to the Atos personel and i was told if no fax was sent i would be refered back to the dwp for not producing the Doctors letter.
On top of this Atos lost all my medical evidence i sent in to them with the esa50 questionair. I have since payed for a copy of my full medical history including xrays scans etc which i sent to the dwp as well. After a 10 minute call to to Atos it turns out my 2 lots of recorded delivery letters were sent to the wrong Atos address which was an old one that was used . But it was the address that was at the side of the assessment form request. After trying to bite my tongue the Atos person told me to just see what happens it may turn up!

Why should i allow this private firm of incompetent bungerls to decide my health?

there is much more to this case but i've tried to keep it short, I was on or still am on IB benifit.

Hi R,

I am sorry to hear of your ongoing problems with ATOS. :(

As advised : Here, in your previous topic, I would try to keep all correspondence with ATOS in the form of e-mails so that you have a paper trail.

You could approach another G.P. in the practice, as even though they may not "know you" very well, they will still have access to your records.

If you are unhappy with the way that ATOS have dealt with you, you could make a complaint to your M.P. : Contacting your MP

I would try and gain written confirmation of the rearranged date for the "Medical" from ATOS.

If ATOS do not cancel this appointment or agree to a Home Assessment, you will have to attend, as it will be a rearranged appointment, and you are only allowed to rearrange once.

Failure to attend a rearranged appointment could result in you being found fit for work on a technicality (failure to attend without "Good Cause") and payments of your benefit may cease.

Please do keep us updated.

Yes Ray,

Dealing with ATOS and/or The DWP can be very frustrating and tiring.

Hopefully a decent night's sleep will have the desired effect, you can then take up the battle once more in the coming days. :)

Ok to update on this, my atos medical has been re-booked for August 1st, as i said my Doctor has indeed gone away until mid sept. I rang atos told them the situation and explained i'd ask another doctor in the group practise to write a letter regarding the home visit but the person at atos told me that because they wouldn't know much of my condition its unlikely they would know what to write as to why i could not attend.
So kinda stuck really, not very helpful are they. The more i read on here of the Atos frolics the more i see impending doom .

Ray.

There's no reason why a different GP should not write a letter, providing that they are actually willing to do so in the first place. Your issue may be that in actually seeing this new doctor you are actually undermining the reasons why they would write the letter or that ATOS would accept it.

Just to remind you, unless ATOS offer you a home assessment in writing you must attend the currently arranged appointment at their office, failing to do so may lead to your claim being closed.
