Ok thank you for advice. Can you offer further advice on what I am obliged to tell the DWP regarding the change of circumstances. Do I keep it short and sweet or will I need to go into detail? In other words, is it a case of from this particular date my husbands hours changed so no longer eligible for ESA IR?

The first thing to say is that it is not for you to decide that you are no longer eligible for ESA(IR) payments. this is down to the DWP, unless he is now earning significantly more than you are receiving in ESA(IR) leave it to them to decide.

You need to inform them of the change and how much your husband is now earning, they will likely write back to you to ask for more details, this may include his latest accounts. If there is the potential for an overpayment then I would recommend you keep your current ESA(IR) payments separate from your normal money and do not spend them until the matter is resolved.
