ESA Supersession was created by mothernurture
Hi, I have requested a Supersession on my ESA as my condition has worsened and I believe I should be in the support group. I have been receiving CB based ESA for 5 years in the WRAG group.
I was asked to fill in a new form, which I did and sent back some time ago. I rang the DWP to ask how long it would take and they referred me to ATOS. ATOS told me they don't have time frames and when I said so could it be weeks, months or even years she just said yes!
Does anyone know of time frames at all when requesting a supersession. If I am placed in the SG, will I then start to receive payments again, and if so will it be from when they make the decision or from when I first applied for the Supersession?
Thanks.

I am afraid there are no "legal" timescales associated with a request for a Supersession your request goes to the bottom of the pile which is then dealt with on a first come, first served basis. The primary delay in the process at the moment is in the assessment of claimants where there are approximately 600,000 claimants still waiting to be processed by ATOS, although the queue is reducing you could still easily wait a year for them, or more likely their replacements Maximus to make a recommendation on your claim,
If successfully placed in the SG then your payments will be re-instated and you should receive back payments to the date you informed them of the change in your conditions.
