Thyroid Issues, anyone have these?? was created by Sarah Steenson
Hi
Im just new here!! I have my medical coming up in Feb and im freaking already! I had my thyroid removed 8 years ago, I was left with nerve pain which I still suffer from & a paralyzed right vocal chord which the following year I had corrective surgery, this has left me with a bit raspy and gets very strained at times.
I was training to be a vet nurse & was due to take my exams just before surgery, I was so unwell I couldnt sit them even after the surgery I was ill for that long I had to give up my job, which I fell into a deep depression, I used to be so active & social now I just avoid everything.
I have terrible nerve pain & I am waiting to get injections for it but these are being held up by low calcium which my Pain Dr wants to be level before starting my injections.
I get so tired so quickly, even doing a bit of housework wrecks me, when I get this overwhelming tiredness feeling I have to take a nap.
How do I make this clear in the assessment?? my first assessment had to be appealed & it was the most stressful thing ive ever been through. Sorry this is long winded! thanks in advance Sarah x

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I would recommend that you start by reading our ESA Claim Guide and think about how you answered the ESA50.
ESA is a functional test of 17+1 areas of what the DWP consider daily living, so it is important for you to be able to relate your problems to these functional areas where applicable as this will allow you to score points.
The guide also has a section on the assessment process and the questions you are likely to be asked. See

Hi,
It seems that your forum name has not changed !!
Maybe you can run through the instructions on the FAQ again.
Yes, your husband, another relative, friend or carer who knows how your disabilities/limitations affect you on a day to day basis, could write a "Statement of Fact" (A Letter)regarding this. (Signed and dated)
Although it may not hold as much credence as a report or letter from a treating Health Care Professional, it should be taken into account along with all other evidence.
