Hi, I have been awarded to PIP enhanced (for two years) and ESA support group (no times given)  last year. Thank you very much B&W for all your great help! It was a very stressful time for me but I couldn't do it without your help!
Unfortunately I have been getting only worse by everyday .  I am suffering chronic illnesses and they are making my life very painful and hell. I am seeing my GP and my  consultant  at hospital regularly.  Going to the gp and hospital are  so painful and hard for me but I don't want to cancel my appointments as I have to go. I read it somewhere here last year that 'keeping GPs up to date is important '. I am really not sure where this info was. (I don't have a good memory , sorry)
I am on 9 different medications and I am  taking them regularly everyday as prescribed.  3 of them are controlled drugs.  They are all on my repeat prescriptions list by my GP. My husband usually picks up my prescriptions and sometimes I pick them up when I am already at GP for one of my regular appointments.
My question is; what's GP role for people on benefits? Are they responsible to give patients info on regular basis to DWP? Example : follow up appointments, cancelled appointments,  what's been discussed,  prescriptions etc.
I went to GP for my appointment this afternoon. After my appointment finished with my doctor ; I asked for my 3 repeat prescriptions to the lady at reception desk. I noticed again  that there was a 'note' attached to my prescriptions and the receptionist  detached this note and wrote something on to the  computer and passed me my prescriptions.   I couldn't ask what was this note for .  My today's prescriptions weren't controlled drugs. I  don't have a clue why my GP recording things on their computer after picking up my prescriptions.  My husband said he noticed that as well. I have a feeling that everything is being recorded by GP so they can pass them to the DWP regularly or something? Is that true? Or am I being very  paranoid?
I have been having such a bad and difficult  times for ages and my mood,  emotions and thoughts are all over the place. I am very sorry if you find my questions silly.
I want to make sure that I am doing everything right.  I hope I make sense.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi Stone,

Although GP's regularly submit anonymised statistics to the 'government', they do not provide details about any specific patient unless directly asked to do so. The biggest problem we have is that DWP do not ask the claimant's GP for information in the majority of cases. Even when they do, a significant proportion of GO's fail to answer.

Of course, I don't know what was being recorded on the GP's computer but I think it highly unlikely that they have to time or the inclination to make reports to the DWP!

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Thank you very much for your quick reply.
I thought this must be the case but you are right, they might not have the time for it all.
I wish they had though, then DWP have the all the info they needed for claimants.
Like I said, I am not very well at all and I am having trouble to understand things around me.
Once again, I really appreciate for taking the time to replying to my message.
