Moving abroad whilst receiving DLA and ESA

Big decisions ahead caused by pending need to rehouse and 2 infant daughters contemplating 'big school' applications next year.

Receiving Higher Rate DLA (Mobility and Care) and just assessed and transferred to ESA Income Related and Support Group.

We've got to make a decision in the next year or so about where we live. Just 'thinking out loud' but wondering what benefits I could take with me if relocated (permanently) to perhaps Ireland or Spain. I'm 60 this year but with 6 and 8 year old daughters, we've got to think of secondary schools.

As well as DLA and ESA we get Housing Benefit/CT - which I accept will stop - and the usual child benefit and child tax credit.

We could just survive on DLA/ESA as possible locations are relatively very low rent (compared with Central London where we live now).

Could someone advise on 'portable benefits' as we couldn't contemplate a move without them.

I am afraid that we do not advise about the exportability of benefits on the forum, have a look at the following which has links to further information.

Before ESA came into force to go abroad on IB/DLA you had to get an agreement with the Secretary of State in order to move abroad.
DLA care component only was exported, you lost the mobility section.
( We were going to go in 2009/10, we got an agreement from going thru the process, but I changed my mind, thankfully at the last moment)
Those who were abroad or who were going have mostly returned as ESA was not being paid as a result of most failing to stay in the SG of ESA and those in WRAG were subject to the country they are now in benefit regimes.
It has been mooted that all those abroad will have their benefits stopped as a result of this next wave of cuts.
It was tentitively mentioned to me last year when discussing our future with a couple of MP's who are 'in the right place to know whats being suggested' when we thought about moving yet again. So we knew it was not a venture worth doing.
Tis a shame cos being in the sun would make many feel much better and also be a less drain on the NHS etc as less medication etc would be needed.
Many a GP/Occ Hlth Dr suggests a move abroad with those with CFS/ME/Fibro/CP/Asthma/COPD etc etc as its a known fact the sun - long periods of it and warmer climes eliviates many chronic and debilitating problems.
