just to let people know , I have been off work almost a year with severe anxiety/depression, and was told I had to attend a work capability assessment.
I went last Wednesday for it, I had a lovely lady who was very gentle and understanding with me as I was inconsolable throughout the whole assessment...today I have had a letter telling me I have been put straight into the support group and my benefit has been backdated and paid!
I am still not aware of I can hand my notice in at work now or if I still need to provide sick notes as it doesn't mention any of this in the letter , so any advice would be gratefully received... , so now I can stop worrying and panicking and get myself to concentrate on overcoming my illness at some stage.

Hi Kw,
Welcome to Benefits and Work

I have merged your two related topics !
Congratulations on The ESA SG Award !

Thanks for the kind words regarding B&W, they are much appreciated !

If you have The SG Decision Notice letter, you may find this post helpful : Here
You no longer have to provide fit notes to The DWP.
I am afraid that I cannot advise you on whether you should give your notice in to your employer or not, that is only a decision that you can make.
Personally, I would consult my Union Rep, if you are in a Union, before doing so to ensure that I was getting the best and fairest deal from my employer.
