Also when it comes to filling out the PIP/ESA form would I be able to fill it out for him because of his eyesigh (he is a very slow writer)t? I have always filled out the DLA forms for him but he was under 16 then. Thanks.

PIP and ESA are separate benefits so he can claim both at the same time if he qualifies.
However, as a full time student he can only claim ESA if he also in receipt of a PIP Daily Living award, see the following for more details

You can fill out the forms for him, if you use his words then do so in the first person (e.g. "I") if you use your words then it should be in the third person (e.g. "he"), in either case include a brief paragraph to explain how the form(s) were completed. If the former and he can sign then he should, if he can't or you have used third person then you should sign.

I have merged your question with the previous one about your son's PIP. It helps us enormously if everything relating to the same claim is kept in one place - and I hope it will be useful to you too. You will find it easily in future if you bookmark/favourite it on your web browser now

I would make sure that he was with me when I rang up or does he have to do it himself? Thanks.
Yes this should be OK, he should be there just I case they want confirmation for to talk in his place.
