PIP and DLA was created by melissand
I have a son who suffers from epilepsy and degenerative back conditions. He was on DLA middle care and low mobility up till October this year. He is also on ESA work related activity group. He has just been invited to claim PIP or his DLA will stop. I have used your guide in the past for dla and esa. He is worried about attending a medical assessment as he had a fit in the taxi on the way to the medical centre. We have been told that we will likely have to go to Dunfermline a town which is about 8 miles away. This has a rail station and bus routes. He cannot travel by either mode. We have been told the assessment will be done by a nurse at the main hospital. What do you advise

Hello Silversam

A couple of ideas - you could ask your GP whether he would consider writing a letter saying that your son would benefit from a home visit, in view of the problems with his last assessment.

You could also telephone DWP and ask whether they would provide transport for you, given that you had such problems at your son's last assessment and that there would be considerable difficulty in your trying to get to his assessment using public transport.

Other members of the forum might be able to suggest other alternatives. :)

Sometimes hospitals have a home to hospital service that you might be able to use?
