PIP Claim Failed was created by TaliTheTiger
So finally heard that my PIP has been unsuccessful (by phone) awaiting letter. Had an assessment at home with Capita. Now I'm interested to see what she has said as several of my illnesses she hadn't even heard of. (She told me she was an occupational therapist).
I tried to explain the severity of pain and how it really ruins day to day living, but to no avail.
To get it looked at again, should I write a detailed letter, explaining each separate factor individually?
Thanks!

Hi Tali
Have you got, or have you requested, a copy of your assessment? Once you have seen this, you will be able to see where the assessor failed to grasp the problems caused by your illnesses. You should make a note of all the discrepancies between her assessment and your actual issues with your day to day living
If you feel that she has made a lot of mistakes, you can then request a Mandatory Reconsideration; you have one month from the receipt of your award letter in which to inform DWP that you want a reconsideration.
You will then be able to gather together any additional supportive evidence to attach to your claim, and you will be able to add to the claim the notes you have made of the areas where her assessment and your actual problems don't agree. If you describe these problems fully you will stand a better chance of having your award changed.
If you go to Members only Guides int he sidebar, then click on PIP
Then click on PIP Appeals and under that heading is
PIP Mandatory Reconsideration and Appeals Submission.
If you download this, it will give a full explanation of how to fill in the form etc and should be all the help you will need.
Good luck.
