Hello everyone, I claimed for PIP on 14th September 2015. Received outcome of zero points on 6th April 2016, asked for reconsideration and was awarded 8 points for care component. I appealed on 17th June 2016. I received a telephone call from the DWP on 16th July on a Saturday morning informing me that they had looked at appeal and had decided to award me 4 additional points taking me into the highest care component level. I was overjoyed and told it would take up to 10 days for changes to show up on system. Today I received appeal paperwork from the DWP and they are defending appeal claim robustly! I am so confused, why would the DWP say one thing and then do something else. I suffer from mental health problems but not to the point where I imagined the phone call from the DWP.
Do you think there is anything that can be done about this appalling practice, feel like im on a constant emotional rollacoaster dealing with the DWP and it is making me more unwell.
You can contact the DWP and ask why they did not action the extra points, I assume that you told them that you were happy with the revised offer.
Unfortunately the Decision is not revised until it is put on paper and sent to you, it's possible that when they went to look at it again they decided that the revised points weren't warranted.
It is something to mention in your papers for the Tribunal.
