Work-focused interview

I am now due a second hip replacement at the end of September I was given an appointment for a medical assessment which they cancelled as I was unable to walk up or down stairs (their offices on the first floor) This is now booked in at the end of August. Today I have received a letter with an appointment for a work-focused interview. This seems a bit daft as i will be going into hospital for my op three weeks after the interview and will not be capable to work for 6 weeks after this date. Is it reasonable for me to call them and tell them this is a waste of their time and mine?
