Timescale for PIP Appeals was created by LuluSkydiva
I know nobody will be able to give me a definite answer, but could anyone let me know roughly what the average timescale for a PIP appeal is...
I am asking because I am trying to get more evidence from a private doctor (who is a specialist in my condition) that can't fit me in for another 2 months. My appeal was launched just over a month ago and I have just received the bundle of papers. I am not sure whether to book the appointment with this doctor or not because they want the payment up front.
Is the appeal likely to go ahead in the next 2 months or do they usually take longer than this?
Thanks a lot
Louise

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Best guess is 3-4 months with a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 6.
If this is the first time that you have seen this doctor then there is a real risk that their evidence will be excluded. The panel can only consider your conditions as they were at the time of the Decision being appealed and your doctor will not be able to speak of how you were affected at that time.

Ok thanks very much for the advice Gordon. No the doctor is not a new one she has been seeing me periodically over the course of many years. It is just she has an unusually large waiting list at the moment.
Thanks again.

Hi there, I submitted my mandatory reconsideration letter on 14/11/16 and have just received my court appearance letter today for my appeal on 23rd of this month. So a good 6 months

They will still need to make it very clear that their report is applicable to the date of the Decision being appealed.
