Free Car Tax,.but lost E.R of PIP .. Help please was created by Mr Roy
We have our own Car, which is registered as disabled with the DVLA, and I taxed it earlier on this Year ( March ) for 12 Months, using the Certificate of Entitlement to DLA, which I have done so for as long as my Wife has been recieving that benefit......
However, last week we recieved our " DWP Decision Letter " for P.I.P. and my Wife only got the standard rate of Mobility from 17 May. So my question is.....Is my Car Tax still going to be valid on the Vehicle for the whole 12 Months now, as I know under the old DLA rules you had to sent the Tax Disc and Certificate back to the DVLA, and re tax it yourself.......I'm VERY worried that our Car COULD be clamped nowdays, as I see a lot of cars clamped around here for not having tax .......Anybody got any advice please.......Thank You......
BTW....I have got a new " Statement of Entitlement " with the Decision Letter....

You will have to get the car re-taxed, the Standard rate only entitles you to a 50% discount, not the 100% discount that you had before.

The DVAL won't be aware of your change in PIP award.
Technically your current Vehicle Duty is no longer valid, I would expect you to have to update it at least by the end of the month but possibly earlier, you will need to check with the DVLA. Be aware that your car not being properly taxed can invalidate your insurance.

Thats a BIG worry, as I use the Car a LOT for my Wife's benefit, especially going to the Doctors and Hospital appts, and picking up many prescriptions for her. I have a 12 Month Certificate of Tax at the moment, surely that will cover me for the time being......

I've got this exact same problem too, only I googled "Is my car taxed" you have to put in your the number and it tells you. I was told yes it is.
But I'm still going to re tax it anyway. It's only 50% tax on standard rate.
