Can you query how far away ATOS assessment centre? was created by scohic
I've just got the letter today for a F2F at ATOS Southend On Sea next week, I live in East London and that's 40 miles away and I had explained on the form that I suffer severe anxiety travelling on public transport or going to an unfamiliar place. I am seeing The Institute Of Psychotrauma at the moment to try to help but can I request a F2F at a closer centre that I could get a taxi to?

Scott
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is
Welcome to Benefits and Work
You should be able to move the appointment to a closer location by contacting ATOS, make sure that you make the new appointment while you are the phone.
Be aware that you can only do this once, so you must attend the second appointment whenever or wherever it is.
One thing to check before you contact them. You cannot be asked to travel for more than 90 minutes using Public Transport, each way. So it would be worth your checking this on Google (or other planner). Remember it's door to door and whilst the route can take account of you arriving reasonably early, this does not mean hours early.

Scott, I had a similar issue. Someone at DWP told me the ATOS appointments were generated by fitting a person into the first available slot, and that if I wanted one locally I should just phone ATOS when I received the appointment letter and they would then reschedule me, but they couldn't do this until I get my letter. (Crazy!) Anyway, I got an appointment in Enfield (about an hour's drive away) and when I phoned up to ask for something more local I spoke to a really nice person who was very helpful and gave me an appointment at a venue about 10 minutes walk from my house. No problem.
