My sister is in the process of trying to get the mobility component of DLA for her 4 year old son who has autistic spectrum disorder among other issues.
He already gets high rate care but does not get mobility. We filled the form in, thinking he would get the mobility component.
They are currently on mandatory reconsideration part of the appeal process.
What I am wondering is what are the points for a child to get DLA mobility? Any pointers on how to work through this mandatory reconsideration?
The problem could be the child's age, if they do not have physical problems with walking and it is just problems related to their Autism and there behaviour outside,, then they would only be eligible for the lower rate and it would be unusual for this to be awarded under the age of five.
