Awarded enhanced daily, should I appeal? was created by Ron
I'll try to be as concise as possible.
I lost the use (totally) of my right arm in an accident. Been on lower rate DLA for 10 yrs or so.
I came across B&W and joined, filled the pip forms in, had the interview and have just got the letter to say I got enhanced daily.
I should be pleased, and I am pleased, however they awarded me 4 points for two sections that I thought were the risky ones. Yet they award me 2 points for two sections that I thought were a bit more relevant.
I got 4 points for the 'help to cook a meal' section, and 4 points for the 'help to wash upper body'.
But I got 2 points for help with dressing. I can assume the 2 points in this section were for my use of elastic laces and a button puller. And I got 2 points for help with medical needs or therapy.
BUT... at the interview the nurse/interviewer actually helped me fasten my shirt buttons and zipped jacket as it is physically impossible for me to fasten my left shirt cuff and do up a zipped jacket or cardy.
And she saw (when I undone my shirt) that I had my shoulder (no muscle, hangs out of joint, ver ver painful) strapped up with Hapla band (like athletes use) and a kind of cuff with straps that helps hold it up.
She also agreed and wrote in her report (I saw it on screen) that I needed help with this, and the joint manipulation therapy every day for way more than the half hour they awarded me two points for.
I'm also diabetic and cannot finger prick to test it without help.
So I get awarded 14 points but I think I was robbed of a 4 pointer in that 'upper body dressing' section & the therapy time per week section.
Should I question it or just shut up and not look a gift horse in the mouth?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

You must make your own decision about this but for what it is worth, my opinion is that it is the award that matters and not the points.

Hi Gordon,
Thanks for the reply and you are right. It makes sense to keep quiet and take the result.
Does it affect anything at all (like a black mark on your file) if I request the info that they have on my file, using their website templates ...
Request for personal information (Subject Access Request)
Thanks again for the reply.

It won't be a problem requesting the information, 1000s of claimants do every year.
