It sounds as if you are making a new claim for ESA, our ESA Claim guides explain the process in detail and also the criteria against which you will be assessed.

Although the PIP criteria is similar in some areas, the ESA criteria is quite different so you will receive an ESA Claim form and will almost certainly have another assessment.

Yes, ideally your GP letter needs to explain why you meet the criteria for the SG.

Then you need to discuss with your GP how you might overcome the problem, just be careful not to lead them to a conclusion, you need your GP to be able to state that whatever they write for you is their words and not yours.
