Hi my 16 year old son cares for me ,he has been denied carers allowance because he earns £120 a week,£4 over the limit.any advice will be a good help.I receive standard mobility and high care .my son has tried to ring them but is kept on hold for along time every time he rings. He cares for me more then 35 hours a week.He has an apprenticeship which he enjoys, but he says also he will care for me no matter what.Any advice anyone?? kind regards Paula
There are a number of deductions that you son can claim, the most obvious would be a pension payment which would allow a 50% deduction so a weekly payment of £8 for a pension will give a £4 deduction and get him back to the £116/week.
My advice is for him to contact the CarersUK helpline.
