ESA AND OCCUPATIONAL PENSION was created by ##Paulie01
Hi all,
If anyone can help with my query I’d be most grateful.
In receipt of CB ESA, been in the support group for about 4 years now.
Have been advised of an increase in pension for this year. When working out the figures it seems like the increase in pension (p/a) against the disregard in ESA (p/a) will leave me just short of £200 worse off.
Can this be right? Can an increase in pension actually mean I’m overall worse off for the coming year? Have I got the maths completely wrong?

Thanks for any advice.

It's difficult to comment without any understanding of the maths that you have done but I can't see why you would be worse off.

The rule for pensions and ESA(CB) is that there is a an £85 per week disregard followed by £1 deduction from your ESA for every £2 of pension in excess of the £85.
