Hello Gordon: I'm assisting with an appeal (of a new claim awarded standard care when claimant was expecting enhanced and standard mobility). Claimant has the trialled option to use the online service. If - and it's only an if - that option precludes attendance in person, given B&W recommends attendance if possible, would you advise avoiding this option? You will know if online appeal gives the option... If it does it seems preferable to the 'old' method!
I'm afraid I can't comment, I have not looked at this facility although my impression was that it was for only requesting an appeal and did not deal with the hearing itself.
Certainly it is our recommendation that if the claimant can attend a hearing that they do so.
Gordon
