Hi - Following your latest news about backdated ESA payments have you heard of anyone receiving an arrears payment yet? My normal ESA was not paid last week, when I rang, I was told there is an arrears payment showing on my claim which has not been paid yet and my normal ESA payment has been added to it. Said something like too much info on the system , and claim will need to be built up again?? clerically in order to issue payment. Processing were supposed to ring me back today and haven't done so. Thanks

We've two or three members report back payments. It sounds like you are due one.

Hi - please help. I finally got through to processing and have now been told that the £2000 arrears payment I was told I was due to is not going to be paid and that I am not entitled to it, vague explanation about someone input my occupational pension details for wrong year and created arrears. I suffer from severe anxiety and OCD and now don't know who is correct. Can they get away with not paying me money that they said yesterday I was entitled to. Thanks

It will depend on the circumstances, providing you have properly notified the DWP of your pension and any changes to it, then any overpayment would be the fault of the DWP and should not be recoverable.

However, your having a pension would argue against your receiving a back payment in the first place as any pension would be deducted £ for £ from any Income Related ESA.

At this stage there is insufficient information to properly know what is going on, did they say whether they would write to you or not?
