Atos cancelling appointments Twice? (HP Sick?)

and some people have even had it happen to them twice (2 appointments cancelled)
1) What is this about? they are purposly messing claimants about?
2) As your allowed to change an appointment date once, if you cannot attend the first one,
Are these 'atos' cancelled appointments, considered as 'one your your' allowed changes to appointments?
3) Is it common for Atos to cancel these appointment with their excuses, cancelling on the last minute,
and then the DWP Stop your benefit, by DWP stating that you missed an appointment
(which is nonsense, as the truth is that Atos cancelled the appointment due to the HP being sick)
4) is, can this Twice (or more) cancel of appointments just be a ploy to stop your benefits
5) Has this happened to you? what was your outcome?
What is all this nonsense about ?

1. No, they are not purposefully mucking claimants about. Large numbers of claimants cancel their appointments with short notice or simply fail to attend, as a result, all three of the Assessment Providers overbook their assessor's diaries to take account of this. On occasion, this means that they are unable to respond when their own staff are absent and have to cancel bookings.
2. No, they do not count against the claimants two "opportunities" to attend.
3. No
4. No
5. We see it on the forum but not regularly.

You mean for example, for 1 day they might have 10 appointments booked, but only room to interview (assuming that 2 people will not turn up)
but in these cases when they send people back home, ALL 10 people have attended, so they need to cancel 2 appointments anyway. (hence telling 2 people that their appointments are cancelled)
Is that the kinda of thing, (as my example) that you mean?
Thanks

have cancelled because they have decided that the claimant doesn't need to come in for a F2F and they will be able to give them an award by just going through their form + evidence
Ie, they decide they have enough notes for a Paperbased assessment, so they cancel the appointment for the assessment.
....and will get back to the claimant in due course, in the future about this.
Have you had cases where this has happened, as a possibility ?

Yes, or one or more of their own staff have failed to turn up.

If they think that they can do a Paper Based Review based on the papers they have received then they will do this from the outset and won't book a face to face.
