Hello Gordon,
My Wife scored 10 points for the Moving around activity.
She scored nil on every point of the going out one.
She will not venture out alone as she is frightened of falling, if she does fall with her condition then she can not get up again. It takes a lot of strength to lift her which unfortunately I have not got due to my own disabilities. She goes upstairs on all fours which completely burns her out. I am at a loss as to how I can prove to DWP she is disabled without going through the nightmare of another PIP test. I believe she only needs another 2 points for Motability ?? She does get the Advanced care rate. but only standard moving around.

Kindest regards Jim.

I've moved your post to its own topic, we ask members not to post their questions in other member's topics as it can lead to the wrong advice being given or taken.

I'm afraid, if your wife cannot leave the house on her own then she cannot score higher for the Going Out activity, the higher points are for being unable to follow a route but by definition, she needs to be able to go out to do this.

The only route to her scoring the extra two points for an Enhanced award would be via the Moving Around activity.

Hello Gordon,
Today I have been in touch with PIP and explained my Wife's situation. He was a very nice man and was very helpful. The letter saying they had looked at my Wife`s case again arrived 5th December, oops, so I had to explain family problems for our late application for a re consideration. He said they would look at why we were late replying and a letter will come out to us soon, but he said it should be ok. My Wife has 10 points for the motabilty/walking section but nothing for following/planning a route section. I explained all the problems she has trying to go out alone and he told me to make a list and take to our GP for him to sign before end February.
They are only going to look at the one section where she scored zero so hopefully she will receive the deserved 2 points needed. I told him that she needs to hold onto me or someone because of falling, she is unable to plan and follow a route, use public transport and suffers from meltdowns and panic attacks.
Any advice you can give me about the list I need to make would be appreciated.
Kindest regards Jim.

Forgive me, I completely misread your post before Christmas

Your best bet is to concentrate on Descriptors (b) of the Going Out activity, this scores four points and with the 10 already scored will result in an Enhanced award, you should also consider (e) but the criteria are a lot stricter.

Hello Gordon,
We just had result of a request for a mandatory reconsideration on just one part of my Wife's claim which was the Going out / planning a route descriptor. Hard to believe but they said no change to original decision of zero, in that there is no evidence of mental health problems. Even though my Wife had a long letter describing her illness which was read and signed by her GP.
Hard to know what to do next ? the letter does say we can take to a tribunal but going into unchartered territory. If we ask for tribunal, do we need to attend somewhere ? as this would be big problem. Any advice you may have on what we do next will be very much appreciated.
Kindest regards
Jim.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.

You can opt for a Paper Hearing that you do not need to attend but will need to have your papers with the Tribunal Service no later than a month from the date on the letter accompanying the DWP's submission.

You will need to show that she suffers "overwhelming psychological distress" at the prospect of leaving your home.
