Has anyone claimed esa for an acl tear?
And how did you cope with the medical assessment please?

It is not the condition that is assessed for ESA but the limitations that result, specifically in regard to the ESA activities and Descriptors.
As I understand it an ACL tear would impact on your ability to walk but the ESA test is not a walking test, it is a Mobility test! In addition to your walking, it considers your ability to self-propel a manual wheelchair over the same distances, you do not need to be using a wheelchair or even to own one for it to be considered. SO even if you can show your walking is restricted unless you can also show that you cannot self-propel the wheelchair you will still not score points.

Thanks for the replies.

Thats very dissapointing. Im already on anti anxiety medication because of my panic attacks overthinking the worse. I have 2 kids, 9 and 6 years of age who watch me suffer in pain everytime my knee gives way.
Ive also been taking pain kilkers for years and been prescribed stronger pain killers. Im also on the waiting list for musculor skeletal service becaus i have swelling to my lower leg (Same leg) i guess thats to further investigate damage to leg over 3 years since i had the acl tear.
Im petrified of going to gatherings and being in public places incase i put a wrong step, knee gives way and i fall.
Wouldnt any if that be taken into consideration?

Myrah, considering you live with anxiety and rely on medication for it then you need to be assessed for that also not just the 'physical' difficulty.
