Benefits return to work meeting was created by Tina C
I have today received a letter asking me to attend a meeting to help me back into work(meeting date 13th May!). I have been on income support for many years and also receive Pip at the enhanced rate for both care and mobility. I know it’s a long time until the meeting, but I am panicking as to why they want to see me and why they think I could return to work. (I have worked all my life and had to close my own business seven years ago due to ill health). Anyone else been in this situation?

Hi Tina C
I know it must be terrifying to suddenly receive a letter like this, but you need to ring them (or get someone to ring on your behalf) and find out what is expected. You can be asked to attend a work focussed interview even if you are not thinking of returning to work.

Hi
We had this last year. I’m enhanced both for care/mobility PIP so we were a tad confused. My hubby is my carer & we have IS for over 10 years now.
The meeting was very informal chat by DWP how things were etc. They had plenty of support for my hubby regards starting a small business and how that would effect benefit after 20 minutes it was done with no feeling of get a job or else..! Year on nothing since.
Hope this helps try not to worry too much.
