PIP and State Pension was created by eyesnlegs
Hi All,
I know there were recent changes so that pensioners have a light touch assessment every 10 years but does anyone have experience of the following.
I successfully moved from a lifetime DLA Award to PIP which is due to end after 3 years on April 12th 2021. I reach State Pension age 4 days later on 16th April! Are they likely to make me go through another review? The last one made me so ill it’s crazy!
Thanks

Hi eyesnlegs
I would assume that you would go through another review, prior to Covid-19 reviews were taking place 6 months before the end date of your claim so I would assume in normal times that your review date would be November this year, if you do not hear from the DWP by then contact them to see what is happening.
At present everything is up in the air.

Thanks Gary, I think that makes sense but why would I pre-empt an assessment when my original one was in February not November? Am I not better off waiting until they contact me?

You have a Fixed Term award that ends in April according to an earlier post, the reassessment process is taking longer than the normal 16 weeks, Gary is saying that you need to be aware of this to ensure that there is not a period when you are receiving no PIP.

Just letting you guys know a letter arrived this week from DWP saying they were extending my PIP and would now review in January 2022 instead of April 2021. This helps me feel a little more settled for at least a year.
Thanks again

Hi there,
I have a sort of related problem, or should I say dilemma. My PIP award has been extended to a date roughly one month AFTER I start receiving state pension.
The dilemma is: will I still be subject to another review or does this put me over the line and therefore in the 'light touch' review category?
I wish I could find the answer.
Regards,
Phrank.
